[Title Goes Here]

Well, if that isn’t a strange name for a blog post then I don’ t know what is. But it sure got your attention, didn’t it?

So it’s the last day of February and it’s my first blog post of the year. Whether this is the beginning or the end of them for a while has yet to be determined but if the previous years’ posts are any indication, who knows what the hell I’m going to do.

Blog posts in 2021: 8
Blog posts in 2022: 5

Yeah. That’s that.

As for what’s been going on in my life, obviously it’s been nothing to write about or things I’ve been willing to share. I’ve been enjoying not sharing stuff (unlike my brother who posts everything from his dinner to his heat rash on Instagram) but this is giving me some writing practice at the very least and the reason I can appreciate the practice is because goddamnit, I’m so tired of people not using periods at the end of sentences. Y’all are grown-ass adults. I don’t care if it doesn’t matter to you because it’s not right. Sorry if social media or texting etiquette has taught you otherwise.

And oh yes, couple that with using all lower case letters and no punctuation. If anything makes me want to smack the shit out of someone, it’s those things. I see it on a regular basis with coworkers sending messages and it drives me insane. Again, adults. Fucking follow the rules.

Example: “dont ever send me a message like this because i will rip my eyes out ok”

Another coworker has a tendency to use way too many commas: “dave, this is due tomorrow, do a full read, thanks” I get being brief but sheesh, you look like a moron. Then again, considering the source…

Please be better. Anyway.

But for the sake of discussion, here’s something. Last week, my 54-year-old body reminded me of how its parts aren’t as functional as they used to be because I had begun experiencing pain in my right leg, starting at my ankle and going up to my knee. While it didn’t stop me from going to the gym because it only hurt occasionally, overall the pain was beginning to be a bit much.

I tried to schedule an appointment with my doctor who is apparently a popular guy because he was booked solid through May. Sounds like I need a new PCP, huh?

I ended up going to urgent care to have my leg examined and it was determined to be a muscle spasm — I didn’t think they brought on this much pain but I guess they do. I was given a prescription of loopy pills (muscle relaxers) and Motrin, and was told to bypass going to the gym for a week or two.

It’s been a week and it feels much better but a little pain still persists. I’ll most likely avoid the gym for another week as per the doctor’s orders but as I’ve said in a few other posts, getting old fucking sucks.

And to wrap up this blog post, I’ve got some things planned in terms of my personal life. I won’t say what they are but I’ve been putting them off for way too long and being I ain’t getting any younger, now is the time.

Take care of yourselves, everyone. And if you’re that desperate for the free, lame entertainment I disperse here, be sure to sign up for updates and you’ll get notified via email when a new post goes live (sidebar on the right if viewing from desktop; “Follow” button at the bottom of your mobile device).

Until next time…

  1. I read another blog post recently that explained how exercise works. The post was about reducing or eliminating chronic pain. The trick is to exercise the bits that don’t hurt and keep doing that. The endorphins(?) that the exercise stimulate work on all parts of the body and assist in reducing the pain. Worth a try.
