Welcome Back?

It’s only a few days into 2008 and we’ve already been notified about our next so-called Town Hall Meeting at work, taking place on January 9th.

As with all the others, attendance is mandatory. But unlike our previous meetings, this one will be webcast to all operating units around the world.

Yeah. I get the feeling that this will be the meeting in which we’re finally told what the company’s final plans will be, when they intend to show us the door, what our severance pay might be, etc.

Stay tuned…

  1. These are truly scary times that we’re in. Our HR Director’s position was eliminated yesterday. She had been with the paper for over 38 years. Our Info Tech Director was let go 2 weeks before Christmas.

Good thoughts with you…hoping for a good severance package.

  2. Unfortunately, that’s how things start. In 2006, they began to eliminate the positions of those that have been here for years. Then once I got an e-mail about the CEO “retiring” and two months later and another that “cleared up the confusion” over which office should be labeled as “corporate,” I knew what was next.

Thanks for the thoughts and I wish you well, too. Lay low at work and stay astute–you never know what’ll happen next.
