In keeping with my 2008 resolution of “Finish what you started, you half-witted moron,” I’ve decided to take a break from ye olde blog for up to–and quite possibly longer than–a week, effective at the end of this post. Note that this has absolutely nothing to do with the passing of burger mogul Carl Karcher; I’ve already mourned properly. Also note that “Post a new blog entry every day” wasn’t a resolution of mine, so I owe you nothing in return 😛
There are financial matters that need sorting out and other areas that need some fine-tuning and revising. Now before you all go crazy and start thinking I’ve gone nuts or have lost my mind and won’t return, know that’s not the case at all. I just plan on shifting energies to other areas of my life that need it and to possibly–dare I say it–find myself. (I will be 39 on Valentine’s Day, people.) I will return when my sabbatical of sorts is done or when I feel the need to say something.
Additionally, with the job in a questionable state and another meeting at work coming up real soon, I’ve got to weigh my options. I wouldn’t say it’s a stressful time of life but it sure is a little uncertain. And with a family to look after, the decisions I make aren’t to be taken with a grain of salt.
Part of my inspiration to take a different path has been Leo Laporte. I’ve been listening to his podcasts as of late and have discovered that in this high-tech world we live in, it’s become even easier to do things that were once considered better left in the hands of a professional (such as video editing, voice recording, etc.).
Could I have my own podcast or stream live video of me playing Wii or of Arliss chewing up yet another one of my personal belongings? I’ve learned that the answer is a definite “yes.” Whether I’d be any good at either is a huge question mark but hey, I’m not getting any younger.
At this point, I’m looking at my life as a 40-year-old draft that’s been collecting dust and sitting on my desk just waiting for markup. The content may no longer be relevant to the times so it also needs to be updated. And while it many never be finalized, it’ll sure be interesting to see the changes.
Take it easy, folks. I’ll catch you around the bend.
