Kicking the Habit

My recent doctor’s visit opened my eyes to some new things.

As stated in a previous post, my weight was the biggest consideration (as well as something else which will be revealed time). So in addition to eating right and exercising, I’ve decided *twitch* to give up drinking *twitch* diet sodas. No, it’s not because of some crazy story I saw on the news, it’s just based on the fact that I don’t need them in order to function.

On any given day I could easily drink up to six cans of Diet [Brand Name here], and perhaps even more than that. I was going through cases of it like nobody’s business.

Suffice it to say, I was addicted to the stuff–seriously. When you get to a point where you just start doing or consuming something for the sake of it or just because your think your body needs it (as I often felt when I hadn’t had a can of pop in a while), you have to admit you have a real problem, Francis.

So Thursday I began and on Friday’s Morning Weigh-In, I was pleasantly surprised to see that I had actually dropped more weight without consuming sodas than I did when I had (and with eating the same amount of foodstuffs). That was a huge deal to me and yet another reason to keep the party going.

A Friday night trip to Sam’s Club for some Labor Day barbecue goodies also included the purchase of a case of bottled orange juice and Arrowhead bottled water. I figured since I was out of sodas anyhow, now was the time to turn over a new leaf. And with the weight loss results I saw that morning, I’m glad I did.

While there’s no doubt I may have one on Labor Day for our big BBBQ, they will not be the staple of my daily refreshment needs. I’ve kicked that habit.
