30 Day Song Challenge, Day 8: A Song You Know All the Words To

There are plenty of songs I have memorized but you would have probably never guessed this one would be on the list. Let me explain.

When I worked at Target between 1991-1993, Disney was in the middle of their best era in terms of animated movies. At the time, The Little Mermaid had been released on VHS and at just about every corner of the store there were small TV stands with a TV/VHS combo and  copies of the latest release.

What that meant was no matter where you were in the store, you were guaranteed to hear at least one song from the movie and, for some reason, today’s song always seemed to be playing whenever I passed any of those TVs. It was kind of like a continuation of the song as I went from one end of the store to the other.

Either way, I can belt this tune out at a moment’s notice and have a few times, much to Ann’s surprise – and shock it seems.

Ursula the Sea Witch – “Poor Unfortunate Souls” from Disney’s The Little Mermaid (1989)

Aside from my rather long explanation, hell, I do like the song.

But how’s this for a strange combination?

Honorable Mention: Toby Keith — “Should’ve Been A Cowboy”.

This was yet another song I heard over and over at Target but didn’t seem to mind. When it was released for Rock Band 2, I bought it and played it without glancing at the on-screen lyrics once.

And hey, nice mullet, Toby 🙂

Honorable Mention: Ice Cube — “It Was A Good Day”

I don’t think you’ve ever seen anything as funny as me mimicking the words to this one 🙂
