The Weekend Plans

Alright, it’s finally here! We don’t have much on the slate this weekend but sometimes that turns out to be a good thing. It’s supposed to be in the high 80s both days so, um…welcome to Southern California in November!

About all we really have planned is to attend the Wings Over Long Beach event in celebration of Air Force Week at Long Beach Airport on Saturday, which is just a hop, skip and a jump away from our place and the in-law’s house. In fact we plan on parking at their place and walking to the event to save the hassle of parking in the lot and traffic.

I’m not saying it’s close, but here are some shots Ann took of a few of the planes arriving:

Okay, I shamefully admit to cropping these images, but you can see them very close (from an adjacent parking lot) on their approach. I’m sure it will be a day filled with tons of photo ops so check back tomorrow for a slew of images added to my Flickr account.

As far as Sunday goes, nothing is planned. Good!

Hey, you like squirrels? This one liked me a little too much! As you will see in the video* below, s/he followed me a good distance down the dirt path that leads to my train stop. When I noticed I was being pursued, I grabbed the trusty Kodak DX6490 and shot this clip:

Note that I was indeed walking backwards down the path which isn’t straight. It’s lined with shrubs on either side and the path winds back and forth the whole way, so I’m lucky I didn’t walk into anything (or anyone). I’m sorry I didn’t have any food for the little critter, but his friend fared well a month ago (from the Phone-Cam):

Yeah, I’m a sucker for these little guys. But when you see so many of them running around the middle of a corporate location on a daily basis, you can’t help but start to appreciate seeing them do their thing.

Have a great weekend!
